LOOK, how could you NOT pass this place up??
If you take I-40 East for 277 miles you will find one of the best fast food joints ever established in the state of Tennessee. Located in the East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia area, this drive-thru style restaurant is in a class all of it’s own. Winning the Baldrige National Quality Award for having the highest level of quality, sudden service and a great experience all around without ever leaving your car. Plus, the fact that they can make a hot dog in 7 seconds is pretty badass.
The menu has plenty of choices to tease your taste buds. They have burgers, such as a Big Pal, which is 1/3 lb. all beef patty, that comes with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion and you can even get bacon on it as well. Phsst why not? They also have a sauce burger covered in Pal’s special sauce, that is a ketchup based and is mildly spicy. ( It’s good as hell too) Pal’s does not only have burgers, they have sandwiches to your liking. Chipped ham and chicken. AH-mazing. They also have shakes and special drinks that aren’t on the menu. Such as a Peachy Tea or a Peachy Mello-yello. If you’re a local, you would know this secret already. Did I mention they have hot dogs? Well…..they have hot dogs and they will rock your world. You can pretty much get anything you want on your dog, even chili. All in 7 seconds, you can’t beat shit.
Above is a picture of the Big Chicken that I order. The fries are to die for, I know it doesn’t look like a lot of fries in the picture, but that’s because I ate most of them on the way home. Warm, toasted, seasoned shoestring fries make the food here worth wild. Try the fries with the shakes. You won’t regret it.
However, if you are a breakfast person you are in luck. They have country ham biscuits, sausage biscuits, gravy biscuits and CHEDDAR ROUNDS! Holy shit, these are God’s gift for the morning folks. The best combination of cheese and hash browns ever invented. There’s no better way to start off your day, than with a couple cheddar rounds happily dancing down your pallet.
I highly recommend this place if you ever find yourself traveling through the 423 area aka God’s country. ( That’s the area code for East Tennessee, if you didn’t know ) Soon enough it will be franchised throughout America, but until that day Pal’s will remain in East Tennessee as their own best kept secret.
I give Pal’s a 9 out 10. Being one of the best fast food restaurants I have eaten in a long time.
